Metro’s Moving Melbourne Community Grants support not for profit organisations doing important work to help improve people’s mental health. In addition to the $100,000 funding pool, we are also offering an additional $100,000 worth of advertising at Metro train stations, to be shared between four organisations. The program offers two types of support:
  • Funds ($5,000, $10,000 or $20,000 grants)
  • In-station advertising space (valued at $100,000, $25,000 per quarter)

Organisations may submit up to a maximum of one application per organisation per grant type.

Who Can Apply

    Not for profit organisations located in, or servicing, metropolitan Melbourne can apply for a Moving Melbourne grant. Applicants may be one of the following organisations:
  • Deductible gift recipient (DGR) status organisations
  • Not-for-profit entities, including charitable organisations and incorporated associations
  • Schools or universities

Organisations will be required to prove their eligibility as part of their application.

Focus Areas

    Projects must fall into one of the following focus areas:
  • Wellness – preventative care to reduce the risk of poor mental health
  • Education – activities that inform and promote awareness of good mental health
  • Support services – assistance like counselling, psychiatric support or crisis care that directly support people experiencing mental health challenges

Projects can be new or build off existing projects or programs. Projects must have commenced by 31 October 2025 and be completed by 30 June 2026.

How to Apply

You can apply for a Moving Melbourne community grant via this online Application Form.

We have made the application process as simple as possible, so it should take you around 60 minutes to complete. It can also be saved at any time and finished later.

Note: Advertising space applications will require a mockup of your proposed advertising asset as part of your application.

Submissions must be received by 5pm on Thursday, 17 April 2025 AES(D)T. Late applications will not be considered.

Each application will be independently assessed according to criteria which includes (but not limited to) the project outline, proposed measures to evaluate success and the ability of the organisation to deliver the project.

Successful applicants can expect to be notified of the program outcomes by July. Funds will be distributed upon signing a funding agreement with Metro Trains.
